Story Time
How it All Started
Before I switched careers to medicine, my journey was diverse and somewhat unpredictable. I earned an associate’s degree in crime scene technology, dabbled in acting, became a certified corporate flight attendant, and ventured into marketing. But at 23, everything changed when I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, turning my focus towards healing and self-care. I became curious about my condition and the intriguing connection between the mind and gut. As I studied my disease, the thought of going back to school began to surface, but I contemplated the risks of starting over and its significant time commitment…
I started a new academic journey in my mid-twenties and chose to major in neuroscience. Sitting in a classroom and studying medicine didn’t cut it for me; I wanted to be immersed in the field. This desire led me to scribe in the ER, where I discovered my passion. Over time, I gravitated toward a more hands-on role and became an oncology patient care technician during my premed studies. Before my health diagnosis, a medical career wasn’t even in the cards. However, life often navigates us through beautiful and challenging experiences, steering us to our true calling. Let my journey be the inspiration you need to pursue yours!
